TUSB3410 (in)compatible to USB3.0 Hosts

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB3410

Hi all,

connecting a TUSB3410 (in itself capable and  nominally compatible to USB2.0 full speed) to PCs with USB3 Hosts port we find increasingly incompatibilities in the form of transfer errors with larger telegram sizes (smaller sizes seem to work)

Is anything kwown to this fact?

Errata?, Limittations with certain chipsets?

Any workaround or Ideas (other than designing out the TUSB3410?)

Clients and users have used intermediate USB Hubs with USB2 Port facing downstream towards the TUSB3410, but this can´t be it?!

With regards

Joachim Hofmann

  • Hello,
It doesn't matter whether it is a USB2.0 Host or a USB3.0 Host, the TUSB3410 will always connect at full-speed, your USB3.0 Host will just use its USB2.0 "portion" to enumerate and operate the TUSB3410.
Placing a USB2.0 hub in between should not make any difference.

Can you provide more details about your Host?
Does it happens with multiple host controllers?
    What is the operating system?
Can you get a USB protocol capture showing the "USB traffic with and without a hub?
    Can you share your schematics?
    Regards

    - Thats clear

Placing a USB2.0 hub in between should not make any difference.
    - It "should" not, but does! Transfer errors occur with modern PCs with Superspeed Ports reproducibly.
no issues with older PCs with nominal USB2.0 Ports only

Can you provide more details about your Host?
Multiple, different PCs (Lenovo, Asus, Dell, etc.)
Does it happens with multiple host controllers?
    - Yes
    What is the operating system?
Mostly Windows 7, but others as well - we do not assume software/OS dependencies

Can you get a USB protocol capture showing the "USB traffic with and without a hub?
    Can you share your schematics?
    - only by email

  • I will send you an email.
