TUSB320 non-standard USB-C configuration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB320

I would like to operate the TUSB320 in a non-standard configuration.  Where two custom modules are connected by USB type-C cable.
Where DFP sources the VBUS but it's data interface is the device side, and UFP is the VBUS sink but is the data interface host.  Enclosed is diagram of the configuration.
Is this a legal configuration? Can the TUSB320 be configured in such a manner?  I don't see why it can't but just not sure if it would cause any USB 3 type C and USB 2.0 issue.  We are only using the USB 2.0 DP/DN pins for data and not the SERDES links.
It is also possible for normal configuration of DFP, UFP and DRP are connected to the custom modules.  I want to ensure that in these cases that no damage is caused to the custom modules.
Enclosed is a diagram of the configuration.
Thanks.
