TUSB9261 used 25MHz clock

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB9261, TUSB9261-Q1

Hi,

The latest data sheet, clock frequency 40MHz supported, but not supported 20MHz, 25MHz and 30MHz.

We are currently using the TUSB9261, you ask about the clock.
TUSB9261 when used with 25MHz clock, what kind of trouble do you generate?

Best regards

  • Hello,
You could have crystal start up issues, please use what is recommended on the datasheet.
    Regards
  • Hi, Elias-san

    Thanks to rapid support.

1)Is there a oscillation problem in a particular Crystal?

2)If you use the 25MHz crystal, or you will always be in the NG in the startup?
We are currently using, but the oscillation problems can not be confirmed.

3)In addition, in the middle of the operation, is there any possibility that the clock is stopped?

    Best regards

  • Hi Cafain,

In previous stock of devices and on a very low percentage (3 out of 500) when using different crystal rather than 40MHz USB2 PLL fails to lock so unit will not connect via USB2.

Failing devices does not fail all the time, it requires at least 30 power cycles.  Other customer performed 8hrs burn-in test with cold boot every 5min to find the issue.

We are working on fix all frequencies, if customer is not experiencing any reliability issues now, I’d say they can stay with 25MHz.

TUSB9261-Q1 has not this issue and it can use 20, 25, 30 or 40 MHz

    Regards.
