TPS65982 RPD_G1 and RPD_G2 swtting

Hi Team

Our system did not support Dead Battery funcetion. so we need setting  RPD_G1 and RPD_G2 short to GND.

but my PCB did not hvae this pad , Can we floating on RPD_G1 and RPD_G2 ?

we have test , The floating can be disable Dead battery funcnt , but we need confirm again , Please help.

  • Kerr,

Although floating RPD_G1/G2 may work in the short term, no input pins should ever be left floating on the final PCB. Stray parasitic capacitance could eventually build up enough voltage on these pins to cause Dead Battery Mode to be enabled unexpectedly, even if it only happens 1 in 10,000 times on a few boards out of many that are mass produced.

Please consider a PCB spin to add pads for 0-Ohm resistors to GND for both RPD_G1 & RPD_G2 or just short them to GND directly if you don't want to ever support Dead Battery Mode. This should be done before the system goes to mass production, but you may continue testing with the pins floating on prototype PCBs.
