Can TPS6598x update FW by its USB 2.0 endpoint in the future?

Dear sir,

I see there's a description on TPS6598x config tool:

Added USB 2.0 Endpoint Host Interface Capability to Application Firmware

Is that means TPS6598x will support FW update function by itself in the future? My customer want to put TPS6598x in dongle product, but its board is small and they don't want to put additional MCU/TUSB3410 on board to process FW update function... Thanks for your response.

Hi Gary,

The latest TPS6598X Configuration tool firmware supports USB EP. Using the TPS6598X Host Interface Tool you can Flash Update over USB EP. This is described in that tool's user guide. Additionally, the source python scripts are included in the installation of the host interface tool in case your customer wishes to develop a slimmed down Flash Update tool for their end users. At the time of this post the TPS65982 and TPS65986 devices support this feature.
