Protection IC for SIM and SD card

Hi,

We have TPD6F303 and TPS3F303 for SIM SD card protection.  For smartphone application, customer now need more protection than these two chips.

Whenever any voltage level above 5V seen on SIM and SD signals, they expect the voltage level is somehow clamped and not enter the system to damage the system.

Do we have such solutions?

Thanks!

  • Antony,

Are you saying that the protection needs to allow no transient voltage above 5 V or no DC voltage above 5 V? If a transient, can you provide a description regarding duration of if it is per a specification such as IEC 61000-4-2 or IEC 61000-4-5, etc?

    Thanks,
  • Hi Guy,

It's not a specific standard regarding the transient voltage that they mentioned here.  They also need to protect the interface from >5V DC voltage.

Can you let us know what could be the closest solution we have for this?  We'll still try to propose it to them.  Maybe this is not available int he market now.

    Thanks!

    Antony

  • Hi Antony,

We don't have a device designed to clamp to 5 V for DC voltage, which might be best handled by a low capacitance rectifying diode between our filter and the protected IC.
