USB C Charger for Dell tablet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982

Hello:

I need a solution for a USB C charger and hub device.  Essentially, it will be used to charge Dell tablets that have the USB Micro connectors on them.

I need the ability to charge a Dell tablet AND have USB 2.0 hub functionality on one board.  So it needs to supply power and be a downstream (Device) port that has several other USB devices connected to it.

Can you recommend an evaluation board available to try this out and confirm operation and compatibility prior to implementation of my own custom hardware?

Any feedback or input is welcomed and appreciated!

Thanks again!

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

From the power perspective you can use the TPS65982 BoosterPack (Check the link below). You can set the EVM to various configurations where the TPS65982 can billboard as an endpoint device that can appear in device manager. This is also assuming the Dell tablet can communicate over PD in order to do a data role swap.
