DS32LV3241 and DS32LV3241 make noise via cable

Hi TI,

- We are using DS32LV3241 and DS32LV3242 for our application at 50MHz, dual mode.

- Cable: AWG 14 cores, twisted pair, 3m length.

- System can work very well.

- We test EMI for this machine, and it have much noise at 45MHz to 90MHz, we test again with unpluged the cable, everthing is OK.

I think the cable work as the antenna to make noise.

I hope you have solution to help us.

Thanks,

  • Hi Bui,

I am glad your system is up and running. Did you mean DS92LV3241 and DS92LV3242?

As you noted, based on your experiments, it seems the cable is emitting noise within the frequency band of 45 to 90MHz. I am not expert in EMI issues but system designers use shielded cable to attenuate this noise emission. Also, perhaps, on the serializer side, you can try low swing and no pre-emphasis to see if these help.

  • Thanks Nasser,

"Also, perhaps, on the serializer side, you can try low swing and no pre-emphasis to see if these help." I don't know your mean.

  • Hi Bui,

    On DS92LV3241 there are two pins called PRE(pin 19) and VSEL(pin 20).

Leave pin 19 floating to disable pre-emphasis. Also, you can pull pin 20 low to enable low output voltage swing.
