DP159 - Propagation Delay in Retimer Mode

Hello Team,

Could you please allow me to ask you the Maximum propagation delay for DP159 in retimer mode ?

I could find the specification in Redriver mode, however, no description for retimer mode.

Our customer says that they see 50ns of propagation delay. Would this be normal ?

I am checking their set up and probing point.

Hi Kawai-san,

Propagation delay doesn't apply to retimer mode.
In redriver mode the device can be seen as input -> conditioning -> output,
In retimer mode the signals have to go through CDR, then send the data with a new clock.
So, we can say it is not the same signal, it is a different one with the same information.

Hello Moises-san,

Thank you for your comment. In our customer case, they have 50ns signal input to signal output delay time using in CDR mode at 5.4Gbps. Can we say this 50ns delay time is normal ?

Hi Kawai-san,

Yes, we can say this 50ns delay time is normal, however customer should not pay too much attention to this pseudo-propagation delay.
