Hi Yamamoto-san,

I would not advise doing this configuration. You should have a dedicated PHY for each node and not split the TX/RX lines off like in the image.

Dear Ross,

Thank you for your reply.

Each board has only one MAC and one MII port.
So we want to communicate between two Ethernet and one MII.

We want make like following...
Ethernet goes freely.
MII and Ethernet goes freely.
MAC handle the data if its address is its own.

Does not my idea work at all?

Hi Yamamoto-san,

I would then suggest using the DP83849.

We have an application note on doing the very thing you describe:

What you describe might be possible with a single PHY, however you you not be able to do any auto-negotiation or guarantee link. If you have a dedicated PHY then you will ensure proper link and data exchange. The DP83849 Flexible Port Switching abilities seems to align perfectly with what you are trying to do.
