TPS65982 / HD3SS460 GPIO control for intel skylake platform

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS460, TPS65982, TPS6598X-CONFIG

IENT_K16_source 5V,1.5A_sink 9V to 15V,2.0A_full function_20160510.zip

My customer designed circuit with HD3SS460.
AMSEL -> GPIO0(B2)
EN -> GPIO1(C2)
POL -> GPIO2(D10)

Type-c HDMI accessories inserted into the NB, the tps65982 GPIO4 will output high status to NB's GPU. But the GPU don't output video signal to  accessories .

Would you please check my parameter setting about tps65982 , Thanks  a lot ..

  • I noticed that your GPIO Events all appeared to be set to Open-Drain outputs. Since the Open-Drain architecture assumes an external Pull-up resistor is used to drive the pin High (1), then it is likely that all three control GPIOs (AMSEL, EN, and POL) were stuck low.

    Using v1p15 of the TPS6598X-CONFIG Configuration Tool, I changed all of the GPIO settings to Push-Pull, and changed your Variable Sink PDO to the "Battery" type with a Wattage range of 18-45 Watts. You can change the "Battery" PDO as necessary to fit your system, but in the 1p7p6 FW release, Sink Battery PDOs will accept any Source PDO Type with enough power (in Watts): Fixed, Variable, or Battery.

    Please try the attached FW in your system and see if it works better.

  • For your convenience, I have also attached the last version of Intel SKL (SkyLake) FW sent to Intel for testing on the SkyLake RVP system for DisplayPort (as opposed to ThunderBolt).

    The FW version is 1p7p0, but it can be updated to the latest version by opening the .json file in the TPS6598X-CONFIG Config Tool and re-Saving.

    Note: as the name suggests, TrySRC is disabled in this FW configuration.1p7p0_REL_SKLE_12-17-2015_TrySRC-DIS.zip
