Retimer/Repeater between 10GBase-KR and SFP+

The DS100KR401 can support all the front port standards.  There is a limitation about how clean it can make the host output eye mask.  Long and Complex channels can be difficult to completely compensate for at the host output reference point.

For very long traces with backplane connectors the retimer will be needed to meet host side eye mask requirements.  If the customer can turn off the link training part of 10G-KR and allow the host to work like a 10GBase-SR/LR, the DS100DF410 retimer could be the complete solution.

Thanks for your reply; I'm not sure whether the link training can be turned off or not at this time, it looks to me DS100KR401 fit more for this application.

The whole channel is about 28" (3" on daughter card+ 5" on backplane+ 20" on extension board) trace and two pairs of high speed connector (Molex Impact). I think this is not extremely too long, do you see obvious problem to use DS100KR401?

By the way, what is real difference between DS100KR401 and DS100KR800? only pinout difference?

Only the pinout is different.

I just want to be sure customer understands the the DS100KRxxx devices can only compensate for the attenuation.  Any jitter directly from the KR Tx or reflections in the transmission line will remain in the signal.
