Ping problem at 1 Gbps Network

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83848C

In my circuit, I have connected DP83848C to ARM Cortex-M3 LPC1769 of NXP in RMII mode. The Hardware is working fine at 100 Mbps network. There is no pinging problem at all. But when I connect the same H/W at 1000 Mbps network, pinging fails. On an average, out of 10 times, 8-times it is showing 'Request Timeout' . Pls. help to solve the problem .

  • Could you clarify what you mean when you say you connect the DP83848 to a 1000 Mbps network? Presumably you connect it to a 100Mbps / 1Gbps switch?

During the ping test where you are seeing request timeouts, what is the state of the DP8384 link as reflected in registers 0x01 and 0x10? Please read each register twice and provide the results of both reads. Some register bits latch their status and therefore require two reads to get the current status.

Also during the ping test, what signaling do you see on the RMII interface? Is the PHY sending RMII receive data to the MAC? Is the MAC sending RMII transmit back to the PHY?
