TUSB321 + HD3SS3212: recommended schematic for DRP mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB321, HD3SS3212

Hi,

I'm trying to configure DRP mode using TUSB321 + HD3SS3212.

is there any reference schematic? I'm not sure where to connect the out1 and out2 of TUSB321. They seems to be output to Host to give the current mode detection, but in which cases Host use the two output?

thanks,

BK

  • Hello,

These outputs should be driven to a controller that manages the port power consumption/requirements (i.e. charging circuitry), this controller should be able to change the advertised current ant manage the output power switch to guarantee the advertised current.

    Regards,

    Diego.

  • Hi Diego,

    Thanks for the answer.

As I mentioned in the title, I want to have DRP mode by default, so that I can test both DFP and UFP.

I think I can connect the out1 and out2 to pull-up resistors without connecting to application processor since it doesn't need to manage power consumption.

    Another questions:

    - CC1 and CC2 are swapped in the datasheet for the better routing, but can I have CC1-CC1, CC2-CC2 configuration?

    - for better routing in layout, SSTX and SSRX connection to HD3SS3212 is swapped(SSTXp/n--A1p/n, SSRXp/n--A0p/n) in my design compared to the reference schematic in datasheet. is it OK?

I'd like you to review my schematic, but I couldn't find a way to attach it here.  How can I send it to you?

    thanks,

    BK

  • Hello Kim,

The CC pins are swapped accordingly to the connection between the HD3SS3212 and the type-C connector. Please send me an email to diego.cortes@ti.com
