Customer is considering the AM26LV31E RS-422 driver.
"I have an ESD and Lightning spec and see that the clamping voltage of the protection device could be 13V or so at the driver output. The driver output goes thru a 10ohm resistor to the output connector.
Can the output handle these two waveforms. Not sure exactly what the output can handle since the waveforms are short duration."
I'm not sure if there is anything we can tell him about lightning strikes if the overvoltage stress is for a short duration on the range of 20us to 1ms. We spec ESD at up to 15kV, but I've never seen a request or a spec for a lighting strike. Is there any recommendation that TI on this front? Thank so much.
