I want to start by putting this question in context. When operating with a For a 1.8V clock source, X_I should be connected directly to the clock source. For a 3.3V or 2.5V clock source, a capacitor divider is required for the X_I input.

With this in mind, the absolute maximum spec for the X_I pin will depend on the configuration. When configured for a direct connection to a 1.8V clock source, the absolute maximum is 2.1V. When configured for a capacitive divider, the maximum voltage applied to the capacitive divider should be 3.6V.
