What's the function of Auto Detect and Manual RX-Detect for DS80PCI402SQE?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS80PCI402

Hola,

May I know what's the different between Auto Detect and Manual RX-Detect?

And what do they do of these two function for DS80PCI402SQE?Thank you ~

  • Hi Jacky,

The function of Rx-Detect is to determine if there is a load connected AFTER the DS80PCI402 Tx. If there is no device attached to the other side of the DS80PCI402, the DS80PCI402 channel places the Input termination to Hi-Z, effectively turning off the channel.

The difference between auto-detect and manual Rx-Detect is whether the user has control to force the input termination to Hi-Z or 50-ohms. In a typical PCIe system, we recommend leaving RXDET floating, as this allows the DS80PCI402 to send out a periodic pulse to check for a load, just like PCIe protocol specifies. Once a a load is detected (in other words, a valid 50-ohm load is present), the input termination changes to 50-ohms. In manual Rx Detect mode, the user must manually set the input termination to be Hi-Z or 50-ohms.

    Thank you very so much.
