HD3SS215 decoupling capacitor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS215

Hello,

Our customer uses the HD3SS215, has a question about decoupling capacitor.

There are four capacitors on the EVM. (0.01uF x 2, 0.1uF x 2)

On the other hand, there are only two capacitors on the datasheet Fig. 8. (0.1uF x 2)

Is it OK for using two capacitors?

Do you have a recommendation about decoupling capacitor?

Best Regards,

Naoki Aoyama

  • Hi Naoki,

The guideline is to place one 0.1uF and one 0.01uF per VDD pin to avoid noise in power supply.
If you want to save in components, I would recommend placing both caps for each pin, and try your device with just 0.01uF, check the noise in power supply, if power supply looks good you could leave it like that, if there is high frequency noise, you would need to add 0.01uF.

    Regards
  • Hi Moises,

    Thank you for your reply.
I will check the noise in power supply and decide a number of capacitors.

    Thanks,
