DS80PCI 810 de-emphasis

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS80PCI810, DS80PCI800

Hello,

Our customer uses the DS80PCI810.

Does the DS80PCI810 have a de-emphasis function when the customer use the DS80PCI810 in PCIe Gen2?

If the application of the customer  is PCIe Gen2, should the customer use the DS80PCI800?

Best Regards,

Naoki Aoyama

  • Hi Naoki,

The DS80PCI810 does not have a built in "de-emphasis" function.  Instead it will use linear equalization to recover the de-emphasis used by the PCIe GEN2 transmitter. For PCIe GEN2 the typical transmit function will use either -3.5 or -6.0 dB of de-emphasis.  I have attached a graphic to help demonstrate this capability. Notice how the transmit waveform on the left can be recovered by the linear equalizer.  The original de-emphasis as well as the low-frequency amplitude are retained.  The linear equalizer in this example was placed ~ 6 dB away from the transmit device.

    Regards,

    Lee

  • Hi Lee,

    Thank you for your reply.
    I understood using linear equalization.
I will feedback the customer this information.

    Thanks,
