I’ve attached our timing architecture for reference. We have a dedicated point-to-point link and need to send a synchronous clock (looks easy when using sync Enet mode of the DP83640) and a TOD with at least 100ns accuracy (better preferred). The TOD part is where I have questions:
How does the timing master MAC get the TOD? Is it via SW from the GPS Receiver or some HW link?
How does the TOD maintain sync with the clock that’s also being sent down the line?
Will the timing slave DP83640 automatically capture the TOD, or is the slave MAC involved too?
Please help with the questions as soon as possible.
