  • Hi Patrick,

The DS80PCI800 is used as a link extension repeater.  It does not directly provide pre- and post-cursor transmit equalization.  The linear equalization of the DS80PCI800 can recover a portion of these analog characteristics and re-transmit them to the PCIe receiver.  In addition to the continuous time linear equalization (CTLE), the DS80PCI800 can add output de-emphasis to the waveform.  This de-emphasis is more analog in nature since the repeater is not recovering or extracting a clock from the incoming data.

The DS80PCI810 linear equalizer is similar device which is on the PCIe Gen 3 Integrators List from completing PCI-SIG testing.  There are several application reports which detail how the DS80PCI810 can help to recover PCIe Tx FIR information.
