Hello,

I am having an issue with the XIO3130. It is connected to PCI2 channel 2 of an upstream PCIe host port. Channel 0 and 1 go to miniPCIe cards. Channel 3 goes to an Intel I210 NIC. I need the WinRom and Top Hat tools and the normal mode and express card *.dat files

Here is a block diagram of my implementation:

These are my symptoms. As long as nothing is plugged into the miniPCIe slot associated with computer PCIe 1, everything works fine. I see both nics, the switch (as four bridges) and the Exar card. If any miniPCIe card is plugged into the lower miniPCIe slot in the diagram, the NIC downstream of the XIO3130 disappears, though all three downstream bridges are seen. The second NIC is alive - the phy blinks link and activity. I have eliminated power and any possible board defects.

My computer has 4 GB of DDR3 and is not expandable.

Hello,
I will email you the required files.
I can't see the block diagram, can you attach it again please, the schematics will be also helpful for review.
I'd like to see what happen with the PERST# and REFCLK signals going to the NIC when the issue occurs, can you take a scope capture?
Is the XIO3130 being reset by the Host when the issue occurs?
Are you hot plugging the miniPCIe cards?

Scope Capture difficult at this time. All components except miniPCIe slots are soldered. Trying to capture PCIe bus enumeration with soldered components on a scope is difficult.

Hello,

My guess is that the Host is resetting the XIO3130 when any of the miniPCIe is inserted, are you implementing the workaround of the Errata #2? That could be the root cause.

Thanks for the errata. I should make something clear. None of the miniPCIe devices are inserted in a powered state. This behavior is from power up. That said, I will try to put the XIO3130 in hot plug mode and see if that is a viable work around.

Let me try and post the block again.

I tried some rework that pulled DN1_DPSTRP pin high and the device was no longer seen under any circumstance. Possibly because GPIO0,1, and 2 were floating and unconnected. Unfortunately, I did not route them out of the BGA. Are there any other work arounds to this errata?

Hello,
Unfortunately there is no other workaround for this errata, we need to see what is happening with the PERST# and REFCLK signals going to the downstream ports of the XIO3130, is the EXAR UART working?
A PCIe protocol analyzer will also help.
