TPS65986: can't get 20V3A with IOC 200%

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS6598X-CONFIG

Hi all,

My customer modify PDO setting as 20V3A  with peak current = 200% for special compatibility requirement in TPS65986 PPHV channel. But in this condition,

1. We can't get 3A current from VBus and TPS65986 is re-connect repeatedly.

2. If we change peak current limit to 130%, PD communication is fine and we can get 3A.

3. If we reduce the current loading to 1.2A, TPS65986 can finished PD communication and provide power.

Is there anything we have to take care in 20V3A 200% IOC setting? Using FW 1.7.9 and 1.11.0 has the same result.

 Thanks for your kindly help.

  • Gary,

Which version of the TPS6598X-CONFIG Configuration Tool are you using?

It seems you have both version 1.15 (for FW version 1.7.X) and version 2.7 (for FW version 1.11) installed on your computer.

Can you take a screen shot of the IOC Peak Current selection you chose?

Do you have a PD Analyzer (ex: the Lecroy Mercury T2C) you can use to record a PD Trace? It will help to match up the Config Tool selection with the PD data being sent on the CC wire.

    Hi Brian,

     1.  GUI v.27 and older version has same problem.

     2. Please see the peak current setting as below.

    3. Please see the attached file about the CC data from Lecory T2C and PJT file from config GUI.

    Thanks.

    Best regard,

    Gary
