SDI Interface- Cable driver supported logic standars

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0302

Hi,

I am using SDI cable driver with part number LMH0302 interfacing with Altera's Arria V FPGA. Please let me know whether this IC supports differential inputs in PCML logic standard since Arria V FPGA transceivers output only in PCML logic standard. Minimum output peak-peak voltage from FPGA is much greater than minimum peak-peak input voltage required at the driver and hence it looks like the driver can be directly interfaced with FPGA. But the driver datasheet doesn't specify the supported logic standards.

Thanks & Regards

  • Hi Madhu,

As long as input common mode voltage of the FPGA is within the limit specified by LMH0302(1.1V+SDI/2 to VCC-VSDI/2) and input voltage swing is within 100 to 2200mV we should be able to DC couple to the FPGA. In order to isolate FPGA output and LMH0302 input, it is better to AC couple using 4.7uF capacitors.

Also, could you please let us know about your design and a block diagram so we can understand your application.
