TLK10232 Auto Negotion with 1G SFP

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK10232

Hi.

Can TLK10232 work with AN with 1G optical SFP?

Regards,

Yuli

  • Hi Yuli,

The main issue related to optical modules is that link training is not reliable.  So, if 10G Ethernet signaling is used (i.e., the “KR” mode), then link training need to be disabled.  In 1G and 10G mode then there is no link training (by default), so it is OK to connect to an optical module.  10G mode is used very frequently in optical links in the wireless infrastructure market in order to implement 9.8304 Gbps CPRI links.

The AN is just the process to select the data rate to operate 1G/10G, hence, if you are going to interface with optical SFP module, you need to disable Link Training & Auto-Negotiation to linkup the device.
