TMDS171 retimer pin strap program

Hi all,

I designed a small board with TMDS171, to keep it simple I choose to use pin strap programming mode so I can save space and avoid the need of a microcontroller to program internal registers.

It works really nice in retimer mode and I would like to make it work in that way in all the data range (250Mbps - 3.4Gbps).

Seems that there's no way to force retimer mode with pin strap programming, is that right or I miss something in the datasheet?

Hi ACM,

It's great you implemented TMDS171 in a design without any problem.

In pin-strap mode you only have the automatic redriver/retimer mode, you don't really need retimer mode for data rates below 1Gbps besides you can save some power.

thank you for your answer, it's right that I don't really need the retimer mode below 1Gbps but in my application it helps a lot.
