SENSEP SENSEN used in TPS65982

Hi,

We suggest to connect SENSEP/SENSEN to VBUS when it's unused.  Now customer is not using PP_HVE path but connect SENSEP/SENSEN to GND.  May I know what is the side effect here?

THanks!

Antony

  • SENSEP and SENSEN are rated to a minimum value of -0.3V in the Absolute Maximum Ratings section of the datasheet, and the Abs Max values are not an equation dependent on the value of VBUS, but HV_GATE1 is shorted to SENSEP in the POR state.

I do not know the impact if HV_GATE1 is effectively shorted to GND during POR, but it can only source up to 6uA (as it is a charge pump normally connected to the Gate of an NFET).

If a PCB spin is possible to correct this schematic error, I would advise SENSEP & SENSEN are wired to VBUS on the PCB revision.

If you have already received PCBs and are testing the circuit with the incorrect wiring, please ensure that BUSPOWERZ is tied to LDO_3V3 or LDO_1V8D so the the PP_EXT FET Path is not enabled in HW and do not install any FW on the device that enabled the PP_EXT FET path as a Sink or Source (it must be permanantly disabled).
