TUSB211 EQUALIZATION dB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211

Hi,

I have same question.
Please give me answer or advice?

Q1: Could you let me know equalization dB information of TUSB211, please?

Q2: How long do customer extend USB cable by TUSB211?
-> If you have test date, Can you give me that?
I use this data as reference.

Best regards,
Shimizu

  • Hello Shimizu-san,

1.- What the TUSB211 does is to improve the HS signal's slew rate, so there is no direct translation to dB equalization. We recommend to place the re-driver as close as possible to the USB connector, please refer to the datasheet section 8.2.3 for a performance example of the TUSB211 under each EQ level.

2.- It is possible to have up to 10m, for this kind of applications we would recommend using two TUSB211 re-drivers, one at both ends of the cable.

    Regards,
    Diego.
  • Hi Diego,

We would like double check the EQ setting at TUSB211

    At datasheet 6.5, For Signal strength looks EQ level3 < Levle0 < Level1 < Level 2. Right??

So we setting EQ start from level3, right??

Do you have any suggestion length for IC to connector??

Because we worries the signal strength are too strong,

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Hi Sirs,.

what`s the gain dB value of the level 0~3 ?  thank you

  • I am sorry for the delay, the email was filtered.

Your assumption regarding EQ settings is correct. And the recommendation is to have the TUSB211 as close as possible to the connector (if you are using two, then the second unit should be as close as possible to the USB HOST/DEVICE).

    Regards,
    Diego.
  • Hello Philip,

There is no official EQ numbers, the reason is that our device compensates the loss on the channel by injecting current to the HS signal, and thus improving the SLEW-RATE & HS eye opening.

    Regards,
    Diego.
