I want to use P82B96 as voltage translator between a master working at 3.3V and remote slave at 5V. The approx. distance between the two is 5m.

Also I can use only one P82B96 at the master side, and directly connect it to slave.

Will it work. Please suggest

Section 10.2.5 of the datasheet shows how to use a single P82B96 device to translate between two voltages.

However, 5 m is way too long for a normal I²C bus. You must use two devices (see sections 10.2.3 and 12.2).

I have one more question if the length is reduced, then can I connect P82B96 directly to remote slave, without using P82B96 at the remote end.
