Hello

In the datasheet of RS-422 driver, AM26LV31I the power is mentioned as:

Ultra-Low Power Dissipation
– dc, 0.3 mW Max
– 32 MHz All Channels (No Load), 385 mW Typ

 

Can you please tell me what is this 385mW power and the maximum power requirements of this driver because i am working on an ultra low power project.

    Azeem,

    This is the power lost in the capacitance on the AM26LV31. For real circuit with a load, add load current * (VCC - load voltage).

    Load current typically is VOD/resistance = 1.5V / 100 ohms = 15mA per channel. Total load current is 60mA

    60mA * (3.3 - 1.5) = 108 mW. This power to support the load doesn't vary much with frequency if the cable is terminated properly..
