TUSB2036 Not working (/PWRON# always high)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2042, TUSB2036

Hello,

I have a problem with the TUSB2036 in combination with the TPS2042. My upstream device is a 'PICO-IMX6-EMMC' system on module.

I've connected it much like the schematic in '6Mhz Bus-powered 2-port hub.pdf' from the reference schematic.

But when i power on the PICO my usb devices won't work. I don't measure 5 volt on the out1 and out2 pins of the TPS2042 and the /EN1 and /EN2 pins are always high. However, the suspend pin on TUSB2036 is low.

Is there something wrong with my schematic? I've included it.

Hope you can help, thanks in advance.

  • Hello Arend,

Are the OVRCUR terminals enabled (low) ?

At the process of enumeration, a USB device will send its configuration descriptors to indicate the amount of power required. When a high-current device is connected to a bus-power hub, the host will not configure it. You can verify this by changiong the BUSPWR pin to high.

In your schmenatics, are USB_VBUS and 5V connected to the same net?

    Regards

  • Hello Joel,

    Thanks for your answer.

I have a very strange signal on the OVRCUR terminals. When I measure it with a scope I see a signal of about 10 Hz where it is high 90% of the time and low the other 10%. Even when no usb device is plugged into the downstream connectors.

The signals USB_VBUS and 5V are indeed connected to the same net.

    Best regards.

  • Hello Arend,

Is Vcc voltage always stable (3.3v)?

Additionally, confirm that the oscillator is 100% stable .

    Regards.
  • Hey Joel,

Yes the voltage on pin 3 and 25 are stable, the oscillator is also stable.

    Regards
