Pin terminations if 2nd HS channel is not used in TLK10232 operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK10031

Hi team,

My customer will use only first HS channel of TLK10232 for their application. if 2nd HS channel is not used, how should HS pins such as HSTXAP, HSTXAN, HSRXAP, HSRXAN be terminated?

They can not set the second channel power down mode. Because they want to use the second "LS" channel. Both LS channels are connected to FPGA and first HS channel is connected to 10GBase-T phy. Cross point switching is one of important factor in their system, So TLK10031 was not appropriate for their system.

I would like to re-confirm the points below.
1. Can we really left all 2nd channel all pins open(HSTXAP, HSTXAN, HSRXAP, HSRXAN)?
2. Can we set power down only "HS" channel?

I need to respond to my customer on this. Sorry for rushing you but I need reply their question by tomorrow morning.

Takashi Onawa

  • Hi Takashi-san,

Sorry for the delay, but the Internal Forum was disabled. Below are my answers:

    1. Yes, they can leave floating these pins, since they are planning to use the cross-point feature, according to the configuration of the device some inputs and outputs will be ignored.
    2. When a channel is set in power-down mode, entire channel (Low speed and High Speed side) are disabled, hence, is not possible just power-down the high speed side of the device.
