Hi team,
I measured TPS65982 and TPS65982D power consumption on EVM(without type C connection) and found some mode different from spec. Already set all GPIO as unused, no GPIO pull high thus no GPIO sink current from LDO_3V3
Would this due to different FW variation? ASUS design IP team is surveying each vendor power consumption measurment with spec, they would like to confirm the cause of the difference and need your help, thanks!
TPS65982
VIN_3V3 = VDDIO = 3.3V, PP_CABLE = VBUS = 0V
Active: 5.89mA
idle: 2.57mA
Sleep: 0.096uA
TPS65982D
VIN_3V3 = VDDIO = 3.3V, PP_CABLE = VBUS = 0V
Active: 5.30mA
idle: 2.74mA
Sleep: 0.096uA
TPS65982 active is pretty close to datasheet
But idle is about 2.8mW higher than spec
TPS65982D active 2mW lower than spec and idle 3.3mW higher than spec

Hi Sam,
You said you were measuring the Power consumption on the EVM rite? How did you power up the EVM? Barrel Jack connector? There might be some loss to the 20V to 3.3V regulator on the EVM. The Datasheet power numbers are for only TPS65982 and TPS65982D alone.
I am not sure if the external circuitry is the reason for little higher power consumption.

Arun
