Hi,

I am currently designing a consumer product with USB 3.1 gen 2 port.

The usb port are handled by HD3SS3220IRNHT. My design include 2 ports and I need them to share a common bus to share peripherals. Initially I planned to use a mux/demux like a HD3SS3212. When I started designing the pcb I had to include a TUSB1002 redriver on each port as the trace are a bit long. It seems that the TUSB1002 has a shutdown mode that may eventually allow me not to use a mux.

So here is my question : Can I connect 2 TUSB1002 in parallel ?

i.e. : TX2P n°1 connected to TX2P n°2 ; TX2N n°1 connected to TX2N n°2; RX1P n°1 connected to RX1P n°2 ; RX1N n°1 connected to RX1N n°2

Both TUSB1002 will not be active at the same time and the TUSB1002 will act as a switch.

Unfortunately it is not recommended to have two re-drivers in parallel, please provide a block diagram so we can help to find a better solution.

Hi Diego,

Thank you for your answer. Could you be more specific about paralleling re-drivers ?

Hi Guillaume,

Now I understand, you need to include an additional switch because it is not allowed to have two re-drivers connected as you described. You can sue the HD3SS3212.
