Does DS92LV0421 / DS92LV0422 can support HiSPi?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS92LV0422, DS92LV0421, DS90UB913Q-Q1, DS90UB914Q-Q1

Hola,

We have a new application as below figure:

And we found device DS92LV0421 / DS92LV0422 which seems can support our application.

Just wants to confirm that does these two device(DS92LV0421 & DS92LV0422) can achieve our application? Thanks ~

  • Hi Jacky,

To check for compatibility, it is important first to check that the inputs to the DS92LV0421 are OpenLDI LVDS and the operating frequency is within the pixel clock range of the DS92LV0421. I have a few questions to help me understand this application.

Can you provide us a datasheet for the Sensor so we can double-check the signal type going into the serializer?

I presume that the signal type going out of the sensor is the same as the expected signal type going into the main system A12?

I noticed that you have arrows pointing in both directions. Do you require bidirectional communication control so that you can use back-channel communication to talk from main system to sensor? If so, then we will need to upgrade to an FPD-Link III solution.

    Regards,

    Michael
  • Hola Michael,

Thank you for the prompt reply and please see my reply as below. Thank you ~

    1. Can you provide us a datasheet for the Sensor so we can double-check the signal type going into the serializer?

    [Jacky:]

    Please see below data link.

    AR0238 datasheet.pdf

    2. I presume that the signal type going out of the sensor is the same as the expected signal type going into the main system A12?

    [Jacky:]

    Yes, you are right.

    3. I noticed that you have arrows pointing in both directions. Do you require bidirectional communication control so that you can use back-channel communication to talk from main system to sensor? If so, then we will need to upgrade to an FPD-Link III solution

    [Jacky:]

Yes, you are right. We need bidirectional communication control.

  • Hi Jacky,

Thanks for the information. I noticed that the sensor supports parallel interface as well as HiSPi. I am not as familiar with HiSPi, but it appears that this is a type of sub-LVDS serial interface running up to 700 Mbps. So in some ways, it is similar to OpenLDI, but running at sub-LVDS electrical specifications. Is this accurate?

We do not have any devices designed to support HiSPi. I saw in this link that typically there is a bridge to convert from HiSPi to parallel. Otherwise, you can see if it is okay for the sensor to output in LVCMOS parallel (will the AR0238CSSC12SPRA work?). There are plenty of FPD-Link III devices supporting bidirectional communication that can be used for 1080p applications, such as the DS90UB913Q-Q1 and DS90UB914Q-Q1.

In either case, due to your bi-directional communication requirements, you will need to look at FPD-Link III devices for this SerDes application, which is supported by our Automotive team (different product group from mine).

    Thanks,

    Michael

  • Hola Michael,
    Thank you very so much.
