SN75DP130 and SN65DP141 : Evaluation by using BERT

Hi team,

This customer asks us two questions about SN75DP130 and SN65DP141 and those EVM
DP130DSEVM and DP141RLJEVM.

The questions are as follows:

I have a test plan to use BERT as signal source, and use oscilloscope
to monitor eye diagram etc. Usually in the DisplayPort, data transfer starts
after link training via AUX. But in this test set up case, there will be
  no link training via AUX.

  So my questions are :

① Does the chip operates with only 1 pair input signal (Not real DP signal,
    but PRBS compliant pattern)?

② Does the chip need AUX link training to operate?
I would like to know this for both SN75DP130, and SN75DP141

Please let me know the answers.

Best regards,
Fumio Nakano

  • Hi Fumio,

Both DP130 and DP141 just just deal with electrical signals, they don't deal with the data being transmitted.

    2)

DP141 doesn't support link training, it will redrive the signal with the settings you have configured using GPIO or I2C.

DP130 by default use link training, if you don't want to use link training you must configure it via I2C, please refer to the document: "Implementation guide: DP130 in a Sink"

    1)

Configuring DP130 via I2C you can 1, 2 or 4 lanes, if you select four lanes you can test only the lane that you want to test.
