I/O Expander with Analog Input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA6416A, TCA9555

Hi TI Experts,

I wish to use I/O Expander for current project as the MCU has insufficient analog input.

Requirement:

> 16 Input(can read analog signal).

> Interface I2C

> ADC of 16bit/10bits

> Vcc = 5V.

I came across these 2 parts TCA6416A and TCA9555.

Can these 2 parts I/O support Analog signal input?

Please advice.

Thanks,

Br,

  • Hello Teach me,
IO expanders are not intended for analog inputs, they are digital. It sounds like you might need an analog mux to connect to your MCU's ADC. What exactly are you trying to do? Do you have any type of block level diagram of what you are trying to achieve? What is your application? If you can put more detail about what you are trying to do then I can give you better support or potentially route you to the correct forum for help.
