Can SN75DP159 display 4K2K@60Hz?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP159RGZEVM, SN75DP159, TMDS181

Hi Sir

The tset environment as below.

PC source : WIN8 PC

Monitor : Acer S277HK

We use PC connect with monitor can display 4K2K@60Hz as below.

But We add DP159RGZEVM between PC and monitor.

We only get 4K2K@30Hz as below. Need we modify which one of settings on EVM? Or have IBIS for DP159 can be provided?

Thank you for your great support.

  • Hi Hugo,

Was the first image taken from PC to Monitor using a DP cable?

Was the second image taken using a DP cable from PC to EVM, then an HDMI cable from EVM to monitor?

If this is the case, your PC supports DP++ with HDMI1.4, when you have a DP connection you can have DP1.2 with data rates up to 5.4Gbps per lane(4 lanes). When you use DP++ you are limited to HDMI1.4 which cna support up to 3.4Gbps per lane(3 lanes), this would be the reason why the refresh rate is reduced.

Your PC should be able to tell you what resolutions and refresh rates are support, you cna confirm there that when DP++(DP159EVM) is used there is no option for 4k 60Hz.

You can download IBIS-AMI model from product page.

  • Hi Moises
That is to say, if i want to support 6Gbps data rate, SN75DP159's input source only support DP++ protocol?
If yes, may i use others setting to support HDMI2.0 input?

Thank you for your support and response.
  • Hi Hugo,

Some GPUs support HDMI2.0 over DP++, you would need one of those GPUs.
If your GPU has an HDMI2.0 output you can use TMDS181, this is a HDMI 2.0 redriver/retimer.
