EOL SN65LV1023A

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LV1023A-EP, SN65LV1023A, SN65LV1224B

Hello,

I just received a notification that SN65LV1023ARHBR was going EOL. I am wondering if there is a replacement and what the last time buy is?

The TI.com page says its "(LIFEBUY)" what does that mean?

Also will the receiver be going end of life also  (SN65LV1024B)?

Thank you,

Sheldon

  • Hello Sheldon,
    We will investigate that information.

  • Hi Sheldon,

As far as replacements go, I would recommend one of two options:

    1) SN65LV1023A-EP: This is an enhanced product for HiRel applications, so naturally the price point will be higher. However, this device is still active and is the same design as the SN65LV1023A.

    2) DS92LV1023E: This device is a functional equivalent to the 28-lead SSOP package of the SN65LV1023A. However, please note that it only supports 30-66 MHz transmit clock as opposed to 10-66 MHz.

Below is TI's policy regarding LIFEBUY status:

"We are not in a position to speculate on how long a TI component will remain in production, since factors like market demand, process efficiency, device reliability, and technology trends must be considered when TI decides how it will allocate its limited resources. Nonetheless, it is TI's intention to maximize customer service with a reliable source of product supply for as long as TI practically can, in order to optimize our long-term customer/supplier relationship. When products are made obsolete, Texas Instruments will provide notification of Product Obsolescence and offer a Life Time Buy (LTB) opportunity, where applicable. TI allows up to 12 months from the date of notification for an order to be placed, and allows an additional 6 months to take delivery of the ordered product."

It is my understanding that the SN65LV1224B is also in LIFEBUY status. If you wish to transition to a replacement device, I recommend taking a look at the DS92LV1224. Please note that this device also only supports 30-66 MHz clock operation.

    Thanks,

    Michael
