HD3SS460 CTX1N/1P and CTX2N/2P

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS460

Hi Team,

The customer has an issue about HD3SS460. There are 4 pull down resistances on CTX1N/1P pins and CTX2N/2P pins from Figure 19 of the data sheet. And the pull down resistance is 100K.

Q1: Why put  the pull down resistances on CTX1N/1P pins and CTX2N/2P pins? What is the purpose?

Q3: Can the pull down resistances  be removed?

Q4: What is the pull down resistances range? Is 10k OK?

Q5:Q2: I see there is not any pull down resistance on CTX1N/1P pins and CTX2N/2P pins from Figure 16 of the data sheet. Why?

Thanks,

Best Regards,

  • Hello Mickey,

These resistors are for polarization purposes and optional, we recommend to include them when using high VCM voltages. Could you describe the customer's issue? or is just asking about the figure.

    Regards,

    Diego.

  • Customer can use the USB Type-C™ Mini Dock EVM as reference design, you can ind the EVM user's manual and schematics here. Please have special attention on the DRP port which has the HD3SS460 (page 8).

    Regards,

    Diego.

  • Hi Digeo,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, the customer just asks the questions about the figure. But I still do not understand what you said.

"These resistors are for polarization purposes and optional, we recommend to include them when using high VCM voltages."  I see VCM is from 0 to 2V in the data sheet.

(1 )What is the relationship between the pull down resistances and VCM?

(2)Can the pull down resistances be 10K or any other value?
