TPS65982 BUSPOWERZ pin left floating

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982

Team, is there any internal PU or PD resistor inside the TPS65982, that would pull BUSPOWERZ high or low if left floating?   I'm working with a design that inadvertently left this pin floating and it's an inside ball on the footprint, wondering if we can determine what value that pin may float to.

thank you.

  • BUSPOWERZ is a High-Z input at BOOT with 2 different logic level trip points, and it is locked in the Config Tool so that it cannot be used as a GPIO Output.

If the application is an Externally Powered SOURCE Only, there is no impact from BUSPOWERZ.

If the application needs to Boot in Dead/No Battery from VBUS as a SINK, then there is a high probability you will see unstable behavior from the floating BUSPOWERZ pin.

I hope this makes the impact and risk clear for you, and I am sorry if a PCB spin is required to resolve the issue. If a PCB spin is required, please highlight other concerns now so they will be resolved before the new board goes to production.
