TCAN332 Eval board loopback

Hi,

I want to check my CAN bus from my CPU.

My CPU has a dedicated CAN TX and RX outputs. In order to do the preliminary tests I took 2 eval boards and connected TX and RX from the CPU to the 1st board. Output from 1st board (CANL and CANH) are connected between the boards and on 2nd board I want to connect TX to RX to check loopback.

Can I do that or there is another way to loopback the CAN bus?

Hi Tzion,

Your approach sounds correct to me and should work. You may be able to simply use one EVM board to do the same test as anything presented on TXD input will be on the RXD output as the driver and receiver are internally connected in CAN. If you are trying to evaluate a CAN bus though with proper termination the later approach will not work.
