Hi All,

My customer tries to use TUS211-Q1 to improve the eye diagram. The datasheet shows that with 2m USB cable, the eye diagram can be improved. But the TUS211 EVM is after the 2m USB cable, but the real cases is that TUSB211 will be put on the PCB board, and 2m cable is after the TUSB211. does it make any different to the result?

I noticed that in some PCIE repeater, the repeater is recommend to be more closer to the receive, the further to the transmitter to maximize the EQ ability of the redriver, is it also required to put more closer to the receiver for TUSB211?

Hello Charles,

Please remember that the USB2 path is bidirectional, so both sides are transmitters and receivers at the same time, so the best approach when using only one TUSB211 is in the middle point between Host and device. In your particular application the 2m cable won't deplete the signal integrity since you don't have the loss induced by the EVM connectors & traces, so the result should be about the same as with the EVM.
