MII isolate mode

Hello,

The data sheets of DP83848q and other PHYs like DP83865 mention support for MII isolate mode. In this mode except MDIO all other pins are isolated.

Was wondering what is use of this mode? and when should this be used?

Hello Prasad,

Usually MII Isolate mode is used for debugging the phy in-system. It can also be used to prevent any data packets from being transmitted to the MAC while still maintaining link for eg if it is desired that the MAC does not wake up even after receiving WOL packets.
