PHY address problem of TLK105

Customer is evaluating two TLK105, external PHY address is 0x01 and 0x05 by PHYAD1~PHYAD4 pin.

Problem is that 0x05 address is not recognized.

Are there address have to range? (For example, 0x01 and 0x02)

Or, are these have other causes?

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hello Satoshi-san,

    All possible address values are valid and there are no preferences. Can you confirm that the device showing problem works for other PHY address? For e.g. you can try swapping the PHY address.
    Phy Add 1 -> Phy Add 5
    Phy Add 5 -> Phy Add 1

    Phy Address problems can arise due to improper strapping. Please ensure that the strap resistor is 2.2Kohm and there is not other resistor on the line. Sometimes other devices on the same bus can have internal resistors which will cause problems with strapping on the PHY.

    For further debug, would it be possible for customer to share schematics?
