SN75DP130 / BOOST function can be used at DisplayPort source?

Hi,

I understand that the BOOST function can be used when the DisplayPort sink is selected. And now I'd like to know if it also can be used when DisplayPort source is selected.

Your comment will be appreciated.

  • Hi Satoshi-san,

Sure it can be used in displayport source.

The description says DP sink because you can select DP sink or HDMI sink depending on the value of CAD_SNK.

    CAD_SNK SINK
    0 DP
    1 HDMI

Of course for proper HDMI functioning a DP++ to HDMI level shifter would be needed.

  • Hi Garcia,

Please let me ask more about BOOST function.

    1. Can we disable pre-emphasis at DP sink mode? Does VPRE(L0) mean disabling it?
    2. What will be happened if BOOST is set to 00 at  VPRE(L0)? Is there no effect for output signal?

  • Hi Sonoki,

With DP sink mode, you mean tDP130 will be used with a DP monitor or that DP130 is used in a DP sink(like monitor) application?
Vpre(L0) is for pre-emphasis level 0, in this case there is no pre-emphasis, per table 19 when BOOST=00 and Vpre is level 0, Vod should be reduced by 10%,
The rows you attached are for BOOST=01, the first row missed to have that parameter.
