DS80PCI800 RATE Pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS80PCI800

Hi Sir,

Sorry to bother you.

We have use DS80PCI800, We need confirm the RATE pin

If we Tied 1 kΩ to VDD = RESERVED.

What is reserved function??

Thanks for your reply.

  • Hi Shu-Cheng,

The Reserved function was originally used for manually forcing the device to operate in "Gen-3" mode (non-limiting mode where the signal passes through the DS80PCI800 gain stages more linearly). However, when operating in pin mode, forcing this setting by tying 1 kOhm to VDD leads to an idle-to-active and active-to-idle time that may potentially violate the PCIe idle-to-active and active-to-idle maximum time specification. Therefore, this pin has been changed in the most recent datasheet revision to be reserved.

For the majority of customer applications with the DS80PCI800, we recommend leaving this pin floating and allowing the automatic rate-detect in the DS80PCI800 to determine the data rate and automatically set the DS80PCI800 in Gen-3 mode.

    Thanks,

    Michael
