HI,

Should the DP83848J thermal pad be connected to ground? I can't find any guidance for this in the datasheet.

Hello Galen,

Yes, it is ok to connect the Thermal Pad (DAP) to the ground.

That really doesn't answer my question. I will rephrase it.

Is it required that the thermal pad be connected to ground, or can it be left unconnected? What is recommend?

It is recommended to connect the Thermal Pad to ground but it is not a requirement. Leaving it unconnected will also work.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know.

I submitted documentation feedback for SNLS250E, including a link to this forum item, but appears that the documentation feedback form strips out links. Regardless, this information belongs in the datasheet. Hopefully it will be added in a future update.
