SN65LV1224B receiver remains locked without fiber connection?

Hello:

We are using the TI SN65LV1224B and we have been able to get the device into a mode which allows the receiver to stay "locked" even though there is no fiber connection to it.  Does anyone have any insight into this?

Any feedback or input is welcomed and appreciated!

    Attached is an image.  As you can see, both boards don't have a fiber cable, but one has the lock LED active.  Top LED is power and the bottom is lock.

    Hello Paul,

    The SN65LV1224B has a greater differential noise margin. However, in some cases where the receiver input is not being actively driven, the device can pickup noise as a signal and cause unintentional locking. This may occur when the input cable is disconnected. Please verify that the termination resistor is matching on the characteristic impedance of the board traces. Also, you could apply PWRDN when the fiber cable is attached.
