TPS65986 - confirm PD3.0 compatibility and PP_5V0 not used

Dear team,

Could you please confirm or infirm that TPS65986 is compatible with PD3.0 ?

Also, can you confirm that it's ok for TPS65986 not to use PP_5V0 (gnd) if we connect PP_HV to a 5V/9V/15V variable DC/DC converter and configure TPS65986 accordingly ?

Only power supply needed is 3.3V @ 50mA , right ?

Hi,

You can ground the PP_5V0 lines if they are not used.

The only power supply required by the TPS65986 is 3V3.

Hello Pial,

The TPS65986 along with the TPS65981 and TPS65982 are not PD3.0 compatible. This requires a silicon change to the PD Protocol engine. Our first available PD3.0 silicon is the TPS65983B available today and is pin-to-pin with the TPS65986.

What features of PD3.0 are you looking for? If it is to support the new voltage requirements those are also applicable to PD2.0. Additionally, all PD3.0 systems will be backwards compatible with PD2.0 systems.
